It is time time-bulk beans and tomatoes

Tomatoes!  Get your canners now while they are abundant.

The nights are getting cool. It is time to be thinking about preparing food for winter. Bulk beans and really nice canning tomatoes are abundant. If you wish to freeze sweet corn this year this is the time. There is a huge amount ready now and this is the last big planting. The warm July and August has hastened the maturity on many crops such as corn so do not wait. We have a lots of beautiful red peppers at the moment and many kinds of cabbage including savoy and napa.

The fall raspberries are open for u-pick from now into early October.  Right at the moment they are nice and I do not see much damage from the spotted wing fruit fly. (an new imported bug that makes the berrries go all to mush when they infest them. Earlier they were so bad). The patch is open during normal stand hours if there are ripe fruit there. There are a lot up there that should be picked today before the rain

The dry onions are mostly near finished curing so we plan to clean up a good selection of all sorts of onions and garlic for storage  by later this week. I expect to dig the first sweet potatoes sometime this week and the winter squash selection is getting fairly complete. Bushel pricing (20 lbs or more) on squash and yellow onions is $.60 per lb mix or match. Hubbards and other large kinds of squash are priced at $.40 per lb for bulk amounts (2-3 squash or more).
