So many beans, so many beans-we picked 20 bucketfuls this afternoon and there is still at least half of the patch left to pick in the morning. Now I like to eat beans  but I need  help if these are all to get eaten.  The reason there are so many beans now is because we have had very warm weather with warm nights mostly. This has caused several plantings to be ready all at once.  We are picking beans now that were expected to be ready in the first or second week of October. These matured in 45 days from planting which is unusual this time of the year.   I plant bigger plantings late in the season because normally cool weather causes very slow development. This also means that after this batch is gone there will be no more for the year from my garden.  Eat your fill of beans now.

Large amounts of spinach are back again, the germination for the planting we are harvesting now was near 99% with the plants in the row spaced so even.  This is after quite a few plantings with less than 15% germination. We plant but there are so many factors that we hardly even understand.    I could say it is the cooler weather, or the rain but that is not true as it is still hot and dry. I did irrigate but I did that for each planting. Finally in the end we have reason to stand back in thankfulness and wonder when something is planted and it grows to perfection. Thank you God for all your graces to us. Daniel
