When will the strawberries be ready?
The answer is not this week and not next week. I expect they will be ready the week after that. ( Last week of June.) This date is still not solid as the weather could change ripening a bit sooner or later. They are in full bloom now and look really good. One fear strawberry growers have is frost in May while the strawberry flowers are open and vulnerable- this year they are so late ( May is past a while ago)that the chance of frost is almost non existent. In past years I have had some of the best strawberry crops on years that the spring was cold wet and late. Are you ready for lots of big, juicy, sweet strawberries?
We are thinking to leave strawberry prices, open hours, and policies the same as last year. I will review all this as the season draws closer. For now there is lots of asparagus, scallions and rhubarb along with various greens etc. available at the stand as normal. Daniel
