Strawberries- not yet

Green Strawberries Photo taken 6-19-2019 The strawberries are still green as can be in our fields. They are growing nicely. They bloomed later and are ripening later than I have ever seen in the past 20 years. So the question- when will we open for u-pick? I still do not know. Most of the king ( first to open) flower berries are still at least 10- 15 days away from ripening so my guess is  the first picking may be next Saturday June 29 or  Monday July 1st. It is still too far off to be sure about these dates.  I will write again as the berries get closer to ripening.  We have all sorts of beautiful lettuce and other salad fixings ready now. At least we can enjoy a good salad as we wait for the strawberries to ripen. The peas are blooming so should be ready in early July.
